Students snuggle in with a good book
Event promotes a love of reading
Penobscot Community School children were welcomed back to school January 3 with their eighth annual “Snuggle in with a Good Book” event, usually held the day before the winter holiday. Winter weather had forced the cancellation of school on December 22, though, postponing the special day. The annual reading event took place as soon as the children returned to school.
Children donned pajamas and were accompanied by stuffed animals as they enjoyed the day of reading. Both Principal Jay Corbin and the school’s new secretary, Jackie Pike, visited classes with special stories to entertain, according to Ann Martin, who teaches second grade.
