The J. McLaughlin company was founded in 1977 by brothers Jay and Kevin with a mission to create a new American sportswear brand that offers two key components: classic clothes with current relevance and a retail environment with a neighborhood feel, according to a press release from Castine Historical Society.

Sunday’s sale also coincides with Castine’s Bastille Day festivities in which the town celebrates its French heritage. To learn more about Castine’s Bastille Day events visit castine.me.us/welcome/bastille-day-celebration.

The Castine Historical Society opens a window into Castine’s extraordinary past. Its Abbott School features the exhibit gallery, gift shop, and a community meeting space at 17 School Street. The Grindle House offices and research library at 13 School Street are open year-round and researchers are welcome by appointment.
