Unitarian Universalist Castine Congregation member honored for her international effort
Elaine Gerard Climo, a member of the Unitarian Universalist Castine Congregation and a Penobscot resident, returned from Louisville, Kentucky with a stewardship award from the Unitarian Universalist Partners Church Council.
Gerard Climo was honored for her work sustaining the partnership between the Castine and Aquino, Philippine congregations.
“We know long-term partnerships do not automatically sustain themselves. It takes attention, time and loving care to maintain long-distance connections and nurture friendships,” wrote the council board in the letter notifying Gerard Climo of her award.
“I felt very honored and very humbled,” said Gerard Climo, who traveled to Louisville to accept the award on June 21 during the Unitarian Universalist Association General Assembly. She was accompanied by UUCC board president Delacroix Davis and retired minister Mark Worth and was joined by the Rev. Rebecca Quimada Siennes of the Aquino congregation at the ceremony.
