News Feature
by Faith DeAmbrose The nomination period for 2012 municipal and school board seats has officially closed for the coming election cycle in Penobscot. With no one stepping forward to take out papers for two open finance committee seats, interested citizens could choose to mount a write-in campaign up until town meeting commences in early March. Harold Hatch will seek re-election to a three-year term on the board of selectmen. Mary Ellen Gross will seek re-election to a two-year term as town clerk. Gerald Markley will seek re-election to a three-year term on the school board. There are two three-year terms on the Finance Committee for which papers were not taken out and returned in the time specified. Town meeting will begin March 5 with elections taking place from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the town hall; voters will take up school and municipal warrant articles on March 6 at the Penobscot Community School at 7 p.m. |
