Maggie Smith, a senior from Bath, is the Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches Association player of the week. Smith averaged 22 points per game in a 2-0 week for the Mariners. She scored a career-high 29 points in the Mariners’ win at Johnson State, including a career-high six 3-point field goals. She was nine-for-18 from the floor, six-for-nine from 3-point land and five-for-five from the free-throw line. She also grabbed three rebounds and collected two assists, a news release says . Smith followed that performance with 15 points, three rebounds and two assists in a win at Lyndon, which included three more treys. The senior guard shot 44 percent from the field and 50 percent from beyond the arc for the week. In other news of Mariners, Crystal Clark made the Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches Association honor roll, and Courtney Dufour had a career-high 19 points on Saturday, including a career-high five 3s. |
