Nor’easter havoc

Nor’easter havoc

Wind gusts of up to 40 miles per hour, sheeting rain and power outages greeted Penobscot and Castine residents on Thursday, October 17, as the season’s first nor’easter landed early in the morning hours. Trees and tree limbs sprawled across streets and driveways, local schools closed for the day, and firefighters and other volunteers helped clear roadways where possible, while Emera and Central Maine Power got most people back on the power grid before the day’s end. Others on the peninsula locations were not as lucky, with one lone Brooklin Emera customer still without power as of Sunday night. Above, a tree on Dunbar Road takes down power lines, blocking the road to morning traffic.
