Students jump from ship into new school year
Under sunny skies but cooler temperatures, first-year students in the Maine Maritime Academy regimental program completed their week of Regimental Preparatory Training by jumping off the lower deck of the T/S State of Maine into the waters of Castine Harbor on August 25. President Bill Brennan was the first to jump from the ship, followed by students in Charlie, Alpha, Bravo and Delta companies. The students in the regimental program will spend the next several weeks training on campus and aboard the training ship, before being allowed to leave the confines of the campus. Classes at Maine Maritime began on August 27 for all students. Pictured are members of Charlie Company preparing to jump from the lower deck of the T/S State of Maine during the annual ship jump.
