Classic Yacht Celebration kicks off classic boat race
The Castine Yacht Celebration kicked off with the Castine Classic boat race on August 1. Featured in the celebration were Anna and Marilee at the Castine Town Dock. Anna is a 65-foot sloop designed by Stephens Waring Yacht Design and built by Lyman-Morse. Marilee was built in 1926 and restored by French & Webb. Two other yachts also on display were built by Artisan Boatworks. The afternoon included a symposium at Maine Maritime Academy chaired by famed sailor and yachting commentator Gary Jobson. Panelists included Todd French of French & Webb, designer Bruce Johnson, designer Bob Stephens of Stephens Waring Yacht Design, Eric Blake of Brooklin Boat Yard, Nat Benjamin of Gannon and Benjamin, Sam Temple of Rockport Marine, and a representative from Lyman-Morse.
