An early morning fire on February 2 began in a truck and spread to the house it was parked beside, at 1026 Castine Road. The truck was completely burned, leaving no evidence. “The cause is undetermined,” said Sergeant Tim York of the state fire marshal’s office, who concluded its investigation. The 911 call came in at 2:45 a.m., made by the house’s owner, Paul Fallow, who saw the flames from his residence on Route 166A and was first on the scene. “I was thrilled with the response of the Castine and Penobscot Fire Departments and Peninsula Ambulance,” he said. “Another 10 minutes and we could have lost the whole house.” No injuries were reported and the house is currently uninhabitable.
