Hancock County Spelling Bee
Twenty-six champion spellers from 13 schools competed in the Hancock County Spelling Bee February 1 at Hancock Village Grammar School before eighth grader Colin Aponte, of Downeast Homeschool Co-op, emerged as the winner. He will compete at the state bee at the University of Southern Maine on May 24.

Eighth grader Colin Aponte and his sister, fifth grader Rebecca Aponte, went head-to-head for 22 rounds before Colin emerged as the winner.
